What's a cute way to decorate and paint a 14 year old girls room?

I am girly and fun and I'm redoing my room. At my dad's house I have a pinkish purple and green room with a ballet theme. Now Im decorating my room at my moms house. THe walls are a pale blue. It's cute but I feel like I'm at a hotel. I was thinking pink and yellow or purple and white. I want a fun look but something I'll like for years. An elegant look would be cool but why would a teenager want that? Please give your input! THANKS! :)
