Pad on dog's foot sliced open - will it heal quickly?

Baby socks and duct tape! We use a baby sock over the foot and then put a wrap of duct tape around the sock, not the fur, and not too tight to keep the sock on. I get the socks packs of three pair at the dollar store cause you have to change them once or twice a day. Keep the wound clean and treat with antibiotic ointment. And of course if it does not look improved in the next day or two go to the vet.
