Father's colostomy/stoma area looks like raw wound even after 6 years. He's 86.?
I have photos of this. It is bad and never gets better. Sometimesit looks like it's getting worse. We have brought this up to numerous Dr's and specialists, but it seems as if no Doctor wants to acknowledge that something is wrong here, but whenever a colostomy "care" specialist sees it, they fully agree with us. It's as if all the Dr's we show this to are protecting one of their own, or just don't want to deal with it. One Dr didn't even want to look at it and tried to leave the room, but I blocked his way out and got in his face and made him stay as I removed Dad's bag and showed the area to him. Same response as others and since I was no longer blocking the door, he made a hasty exit. The operating Dr. has since retired. I have photos, but don't know if allowed to post here. Father too old and weak to survive a reversal, plus they say the surrounding tissue is too weak. He also has a large hernia surrounding the area. I hear that this is common. Again, Dr's say same risks about repairing his hernia. Our main concern now is the wound like area. ANYONE PLEASE! Again, I have photos, only now it's worse.
